Honoring First Responders and Junk in the Trunk at Main Street Market

Happy Summer! It’s that time again, the 4th Saturday of the month. Junk in the Trunk in July is upon us. There is a great lineup of community members coming to sell their junk. Junk in the Trunk takes place in the breezeway between Firestone and Central National Bank. If you are interested in participating sign up before Wednesday at 5 pm.

This week’s Market theme is Honoring First Responders. The Geary County Sheriff’s office will be at the Market with a Bear Cat vehicle and several K-9 companions.  North Central KS Weather Syndicate will be at the market with their storm-tracking vehicle and information on how to become a storm spotter.  The Junction City Fire Department, which is right across the street from the Market on Jefferson will have one of their vehicles out in their driveway and personnel around to allow you to get up close with the vehicle and ask questions. Geary County Rural Fire Department will be at the Market to share information. Kris Hitchman a musician will be playing his guitar and singing a variety of pop and country music for you to enjoy in the Market area.

There is a new food truck coming this weekend! We are excited to have Jinzy Co Food Truck selling fusion cuisine including jerk tacos, brunch burgers, strawberry bubble waffles, soul rolls, and chicken waffles. Grab a bite to eat while shopping at the Market and Junk in the Trunk.

This week’s non-profit is the Salvation Army.  While the Salvation Army is popularly known for its red kettle campaigns, they also provide relief to people in need through disaster relief and public emergency services, from the evangelical perspective. All money raised by the Salvation Army in Geary County stays in Geary County to aid those in need. Stop by and learn more. Their booth will have the red kettle beside it.

The Kids Biz Fair takes place on July 29th. Has your entrepreneurial-spirited child signed up yet? There is limited availability, but spots are still available. Ages 6 to 17 can apply. The Kids Biz Fair will take place from 9:30-11:30 AM during Market hours on the third row of our Market. Prizes will be given out for several categories including but not limited to age categories and best in show. Stop by and support the young entrepreneurs who will be selling a variety of goods.

Come support the small business community this weekend. Find your summer BBQ essentials or find a new trinket or two from our many vendors.
