Mother’s Day at Main Street Market (May 13th)
Junction City Main Street Market had an exciting weekend with our grand opening on May 6th. The community response was overwhelming and we were so happy to meet the entire community. The market is open again on May 13th, just in time for Mother’s Day. Bring mom to the market and let her pick out her own flowers or unique trinket. Visitors can enjoy a variety of farmers’ and makers’ fresh goods and wares. Main Street Market is located on W 8th and N Jefferson right across from the Junction City Fire Department.
For those who attended the grand opening, note that 8th Street will not be blocked off. However, every week, the market will feature a different theme with community groups and nonprofits providing activities and information. This week’s featured nonprofit is Developing Caring Communities Committed to Action (DCCCA), which helps people lead better lives. Learn more about what they do for the community at large by stopping by their booth on Saturday.
The Geary County Visitors Bureau will be hosting a “build your boat” activity for the June 3rd Float Your Boat event at the market this weekend. They will provide all the materials to build a boat, so bring your team and build with them. If you haven’t signed your team up, come sign up and build with the CVB. Mindy with Mindy’s Murals will also be actively painting a building mural on the corner of 10th and Washington starting at 8:30 am. Mindy has encouraged the community to come and participate in the painting activity.
Visitors can also enjoy live music by local musician Kris Hitchman, who will be playing guitar and singing a mix of country, pop/rock music from the 60s-90s. German Kitchen will also be present providing delicious German dishes for purchase. There will be seating between German Kitchen and Kris Hitchman for the community to enjoy food and entertainment. Come out and join the community at Junction City Main Street Market this weekend for a delightful time.
