Community Reinvention with Jon Shallert

This spring, a group of Junction City business owners and community leaders attended Jon Schallert’s nationally recognized Destination Business BootCamp in Denver, Colorado. Participation in the training was made possible through a grant provided by Network Kansas, helping local businesses gain access to innovative strategies designed to attract more customers, visitors, and economic activity to the community.

Now, Schallert is bringing the training full circle with a return visit to Junction City. During the Post-Destination Business BootCamp Community Reinvention Visits, he will tour participating businesses and meet with attendees to see what changes, improvements, and destination-focused strategies have been implemented since completing the intensive two-and-a-half-day workshop.

The original BootCamp focused on helping independent businesses reposition themselves as “consumer destinations”- places people are willing to travel specifically to visit. Schallert’s follow-up visit provides participants with the opportunity to showcase their progress, receive personalized feedback, and continue refining their destination development efforts.

The Junction City cohort included local business owners representing a variety of industries, along with leaders from Junction City Main Street and the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce. These visits are an important step in continuing the momentum generated through the training and strengthening Junction City’s reputation as a destination community.
