Learn about Kansas Wildlife at Main Street Market

With the summer season in full swing, the Main Street Market is buzzing with excitement. Every Saturday from 8:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the Market comes alive with vendors, shoppers, and a true sense of community. The Market has become a cherished tradition this summer, a weekly gathering where people can not only support local businesses but also engage in a range of activities that cater to various interests.

Celebrating Kansas Wildlife

This weekend’s highlight is the celebration of Kansas Wildlife at the Market. As you stroll through the third row, you’ll find a variety of engaging activities and learning opportunities for everyone. Fishing enthusiasts will be thrilled to join in on the backyard bass activity and angler education provided by Fishings Future. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a curious beginner, you’ll find something to enjoy. Geary County Fish and Game Association will be alongside Fishings Future sharing information.

Nature enthusiasts can look forward to a special appearance by the Milford Nature Center from 10 AM to 12 PM. Expand your knowledge about the natural wonders that surround us. It’s a fantastic chance for both children and adults to gain a deeper appreciation for the world around them.

Doug Vogelsang a local beekeeper will be showcasing bee-keeping equipment and sharing information on bees. Come learn what the buzz is all about.

Exploring Military Volunteerism

Do you know someone who has served in the military and dedicated their time to volunteering? If so, make sure to strike up a conversation with Dominic Barnes. Currently writing his Ph.D. dissertation on volunteerism in the military, Dominic will be on hand to chat and hopes to gain more insight from those that might have direct knowledge of volunteerism in the military. Main Street Market has been privileged to have active-duty soldiers from Fort Riley volunteering in their free time throughout the Market season. We are honored to work side by side with them. Military volunteers have been a huge asset to downtown and revitalization efforts.

Culinary Delights and Shopping Galore

A visit to the Main Street Market wouldn’t be complete without indulging your taste buds. The German Kitchen, a Main Street Market regular, will be serving up mouthwatering dishes available for purchase. We recommend the Schnitzel.  Why not savor a delicious lunch while you explore the market’s offerings?

As you peruse the stalls, don’t forget to check out the sign highlighting the Buy the Foot: Downtown Holiday Lights Campaign. With the holiday season not too far off, now is the perfect time to learn how you can contribute to the creation of permanent holiday lighting downtown. It’s a wonderful opportunity to give back to the community and help create a festive and magical atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.
Come support the small business community this weekend! From produce to uniquely crafted items there is something for everyone.

See you at the Market!
